Today sees the launch of the LOVEFiLM Instant Watchlist on the LOVEFiLM website.
You can now add any LOVEFiLM Instant title to a list, ready to play later. The Watchlist also makes it easy to store and keep track of all the movies & TV shows you’re currently watching.
It’s very simple: as you’re browsing the LOVEFiLM website, you’ll see a new yellow “Add to Watchlist” button next to all LOVEFiLM Instant titles. Click the button and that film or TV show will be added to your Watchlist.
Go to the Watchlist page (you’ll find this link at the top right of any page), and you’ll see all of your additions listed (if they’re still available to stream). Your most recent Watchlist additions will be listed first. You can also filter your Watchlist to show just Films, just TV shows, or All titles.
Removing titles from your Watchlist is easy too…
- On the Watchlist page, click the “Remove” link beneath any titles to get rid of it (a handy “Undo” link appears afterwards, just in case you hit “Remove” by accident).
- On the website in general, just click the “Remove from Watchlist” yellow button – these will be next to any film or TV show on your Watchlist.
The Watchlist has been the most frequently request from LOVEFiLM Instant members, so we’re delighted to launch it and really hope it improves your LOVEFiLM Instant experience.
And if you have any feedback, such as new features you’d like to see added to the Watchlist, please let us know via the comments below…

Thank you LOVEFILM for adding Watchlist. After the newly revamped website which I found much easier to navigate I was gutted you had removed recently watched. The WATCHLIST update was a must and I think its a great addition to the Lovefilm instant package. Well done!
I love this feature but could you change it so it remembers which episodes of a series I have already watched and I can go straight to the episodes I haven’t seen? Skipping through the watched episodes is a pain.
The adaptive streaming doesn’t quite seem to work. My bandwidth is right on the cusp of where it switches between SD and HD this means that it stutters while it switches and then realises the bandwidth is enough after all and stutters back. This makes the audio very distracting indeed. This either needs to be made softer somehow or it needs to buffer a few seconds ahead when it can.
Overall the look and feel of using instant is MUCH better than before although the last watched list is very much missed.
Keep up the good work.
Stefan
Hi,
Just thought another addition to the watchlist could be the option to order titles by user’s choosing. For example, choosing to have the 1st added titles show on the first page, Or alphabetical order, oldest first, newest first and any other order one may choose.
Like the watchlist – this is a good change. Really miss the ‘recommended for you’ section though. shame it’s not there anymore.
Watchlist is great, it needs to be sortable – minimum categories
1. alphabetically
2. star rating
3. films already watched
4. films not watched yet
5. my or user star rating/ recommendations (improves user interactivity)
Forgot to add, it should be user watchlist screen, possibly with use of widgets to set-up their own front screen, e.g. with
1. films watching
2. films to watch next
3. films recommended by users
Nice touch for Instant! However, since the ‘recently viewed’ feature has been removed, it makes it difficult to remember what episode you watched last of a particular TV series. Instead we now have to go into our account to see recently watched titles, which is pretty annoying. Would much prefer it if Lovefilm remembered the episode I watched last when I click on it in my Wacthlist.
But other than that, the new improvements are welcomed!
Hi – one of the common complaints raised is the inability to reserve future rental releases. The website used to have this feature and many users found it really useful. Otherwise you have to keep offline notes reminding you to go and select them when they are eventually released! Can the feature be brought back please?!
Hi the watch list is a good idea however it should be more accessible like where rental button and instant love film buttons are not at the the top of the page where your account link is because it can easily be missed.
Hey! I love it. I will definately use this service more and it is the clincher to keeping this over Netflix.
Netflix has a watchlist of sorts but I don’t like their selection as much as yours.
You win.
would like to know why love films keeps freezing and then screen goes very dark so you cant watch it until you press A button on Wii remote
It’s a nice touch, I used to create a separate list for instant titles.
It would be better if you could access your Watchlist via the PS3 App though. Hopefully you can do that the next time you update the the PS3 App?
After being with netflix I thought I’d try love film out a few things that need to be ironed out before I decide to go with love film for good.
1: why is it not on the Apple TV?
2: why can you not carry on watching the film from where you left it can’t seem to do it on my Sony player?
3: Film history whats been seen would be nice!!!
Films seem to be a lot better than netflix which is a good thing.
Some more comments:
1. Would be nice to have option to see them in a list format similar to the rental list, rather than the poster/title grid.
2. An option to be notified by email when a title on the watchlist is near the end of its availability.
3. An option to automatically move an title from the watchlist to rental list when its availability on Instant ends.
4. An option to deprioritize and/or move rental items when they become available on Instant. The last two discs I received had just come out on Instant and they were “randomly selected” from 80 other titles on my rental list.
i like to watch films based on a true story so would like a true section to be easily accessed
