Feels like you can’t move this year without seeing a generous helping of superhero spandex, bulging biceps and general invincibility. And I’m particularly looking forward to catching up with Thor, X-Men and Captain America (and not just because of the hot bods, promise!)

So with all this comic-book action going on, we wondered what the Ultimate Superhero would look like. And decided to find out. We sorted out some categories – the best headgear, outfit, power, etc – and asked our members for their favourites.

Thousands of votes flooded in, and the result is the ultimate crime-fighting hero pictured here – complete with Rorschach’s (Watchmen) mask, Professor X’s telepathy powers, Wolverine’s claws, Batman’s utility belt and a nifty pair of wheels (the Batmobile).

The Dark Knight’s suit beat Iron Man’s mechanical armour by a fraction in the wardrobe department, so we decided to create double the impact and blend both suits together.

Our masked avenger’s other powers include Superman’s ability to fly, The Hulk’s super strength, and invisibility a la Sue Storm of Fantastic Four (an invisible hero might have made our artist’s job easier, but not so much on the impact front!)

Let me know what you think about Amalgamation Man (not his official name) – we might well pitch to Marvel or DC and see if we can get a movie made. Though his first deadly enemy would probably be the Copyright Infringement Goblin…

Getting a lot of love for our Deja View feature at the moment, which we’ve dusted off and updated due to the arrival of No Strings Attached on DVD. The feature’s about those times when you’re watching a film, and you could have sworn there was one just like it only a little while ago. Chances are, there was.

We’ve paired them all up so you can compare and contrast. And do let me know if we’ve missed any out.

The car’s the star this week, so we rounded up some movie motor greats, as Pixar’s second automotive adventure arrives. And Toy Story aside, they haven’t gone down the sequel route much, but that may well change in the next couple of years, with Monsters University (a prequel that we’re very excited about), The Incredibles 2, and – yes – Toy Story 4 all in the offing.

No animation in our recently arrived streaming content, but a cracking mix of old and new: alongside Mickey Rourke’s epic turn in The Wrestler and all manner of female hotness in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, we’ve got the exclusive streaming rights to The Girl Who Played With Fire, and – 25 years old but still a superb watch – Jack up to a whole lot of no good with Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and Cher in The Witches of Eastwick.

And all that lovely lot are available as part of your subscription, which means no more monies required. So fill your boots – especially this weekend, and even more especially if you’ve got a PlayStation®3…

With E3 behind us, it’s now time to wait… and wait… and wait some more for some of the titles that were promised. But there are a few new games to keep us all going until the big hitters arrive. Personally, I cannot wait for Mass Effect 3, and everything else seems to fade into insignificance next to it – but I’ll take what I can get in the meantime.

One of the games with the biggest fan fare (and then the biggest critical backlash) was Duke Nukem Forever (PS3, Xbox360), which was in development hell for over a decade. Irreverent, rude, crude and – in some ways – hugely out of date, the new Duke proved to be as controversial as ever. And mixed reviews surely make for a perfect rental – time to decide for yourself?

Shooters have been a feature of the last month, with Infamous 2 coming to PS3 exclusively, the Red Faction franchise continuing in Red Faction: Armageddon, the game adaptation of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and scary action in F.E.A.R. 3. I don’t know about you but I’m exhausted already. If shooters aren’t your thing, older games have also returned, with Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition bringing new characters to do battle with, Alice returning with knife in hand in Alice: Madness Returns, and – of course – the unforgettable Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the 3DS. Yes, we’ve played it before, but it’s always a happy sight to see Link back (and this time in 3D), even if it is for an old adventure.

Last, but in no way least, Child of Eden has been released – the much anticipated game that showed what motion controls could do in last year’s E3. Beautiful, mesmerising and very similar to Rez (if you don’t remember Rez, you really missed out), Child of Eden is putting the Kinect and PlayStation Move through their paces. You can also play it with a controller if you want, though you won’t look nearly as silly, *cough*, I mean interesting.

Fans of R-Patz, K-Stew and, er, T-Laut – stand by your beds: the Twilight saga is coming to our streaming service. Eclipse, the third film in the series, will be available from October in the first batch of titles from our new friends at Entertainment One UK (eOne).

eOne are a fantastic independent film distributor and we’ve signed a five-year deal with them. Which means that, from this Autumn, you’ll be able to see their movies as part of our Watch Online service; on your PC, internet-connected TV or PS3™.

And, a little further ahead, we’ll have The Three Musketeers, starring Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans and Milla Jovovich; The Ides of March, starring, written & directed by George Clooney; and the final instalments of The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2.

Obviously, we’ve already got all eOne’s currently available titles for rental on DVD and Blu-ray – but then you’d expect that, right?

Simon Calver, our CEO, said: “I am so excited that LOVEFiLM will be the only place that film fans can watch movies such as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. eOne are an ideal partner with an excellent catalogue and great new films, and this is in line with our strategy of having the best content available and delivering the best possible experience to our members, who are passionate about films and TV series.”

Alex Hamilton, Director of Film at Entertainment One, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to do this deal with LOVEFiLM. I feel this is a landmark deal for both parties.”
